Rare Studio Liverpool

RARE Studio LiverpoolRare Studio Liverpool delivers specialist performing arts training for young people in the North-West aged between 11-19.

We pride ourselves on providing outstanding training in acting, dance, singing and musical theatre. We also have an impressive choir and dance company each with over 30 young people who perform regularly in and around the city at prestigious events.

Our staff are current industry practitioners and go above and beyond to provide our young people with fantastic performance opportunities.

What makes us different is this; we are a charitable organisation who are dedicated to finding the best talent regardless of their financial or personal circumstances.

Students are taken on their ability and NOT their ability to pay fees.

We offer fee waivers and full scholarships to those who demonstrate financial hardship and would never exclude a young person who was unable to pay for their training.

Our students are exceptionally talented and achieve a place at Rare based on audition, but many of them are from difficult circumstances, including being in the care system, being excluded from school, at risk of becoming a NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training), from low income and/or single parent families, or families affected by drug or alcohol addictions.

Many of our students are talented, but sometimes struggle to even get the bus fare together to get in to classes, or are dealing with complex issues at home.

The school runs at evenings and weekends and works with young people aged between 11 and 18. Classes in dance, singing and acting are delivered Monday to Friday and all day Saturday.

For dance these are ballet, contemporary, jazz, commercial and a performance company. Singing consists of a choir, 1-1 singing lessons, song writing, professional development for singing and an advanced class for exceptional singers/songwriters.

Acting focuses on acting technique classes, audition preparation and an acting company. Students are required to train for three hours minimum in one subject.

They may do as many classes as they wish (for no extra charge) which means many of them are able to access up to 12 hours training a week.

We are honored to be working alongside our European partners on the Opera-Q project.

As part of this project we are expanding our provision to work with a wider range of people on a cross generational musical theatre project.

We aim to work with a group of people aged from 5-85 on developing a new version of the musical ‘Westside Story!’

We aim to reach out to difficult communities and people from different cultural backgrounds who may not normally have access to such projects.
